Campus Service

Access control at AAU

Zones

In order to strengthen both accessibility and safety for students and employees at AAU, Campus Service has divided the areas in AAU's buildings into three different zone types: Zone 0, zone 1 and zone 2.

  • Zone 0 is open to the public during the day
  • Zone 1 is open to employees and students
  • Zone 2 is open to people who have a special access permit to the area – for example, this could be access to laboratories and offices.

Access to the various zones is provided by Facility Support.

AAUcard

In order to use printers and copiers and to enter the university outside opening hours, you must use an AAUcard.

The outer doors are open during normal opening hours at 7:30 a.m. -3:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, Friday at 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

AAUcard is used as an ID card and in many places also as the physical key to offices etc. Therefore, all employees, students and external employees must always carry their AAUcard.

Facility Supporters and G4S Security will regularly carry out random checks to check whether people in restricted access zones or generally in AAU buildings outside normal opening hours have the right to be there. Persons who cannot present a valid AAUcard may be asked to leave the building. This can, in principle, be requested by all AAU employees.

Guests without a valid AAUcard, e.g. participants in conferences, seminars, etc. must be accompanied by an AAU employee in zones with restricted access (or in general in AAU's buildings outside normal opening hours)

Guest access cards

You can get an access card for AAU, which only works for a short period. This happens e.g. if you are a craftsman and have to carry out a piece of work at the university for a shorter period of time, up to a month's duration, or need access to locked areas.

The card is acquired through the institute/department that has ordered the work and is issued by the local Facility Support team.

The card is assigned a code in advance, which is disclosed upon transfer. A guest card does not have an image printed on it and thus cannot be used as an ID card, but simply as an access card.. Accessories for the card

Accessories such as card holder, key hanger and possibly key-yoyo is handed out at the nearest Facility Support office.

Keys to group rooms

Keys to group rooms can be borrowed from the Facility Supporters against a deposit of DKK 1000.

The group is jointly and severally liable for this deposit, where you can get 1-8 keys delivered. The deposit is refunded upon return of all keys. If all keys are not returned, the deposit covers the cost of a new cylinder and keys.

It is the students' responsibility to ensure that the group rooms are locked for reasons of compensation in the event of a break-in. If there are doubts and questions about the compensation rules, contact your own insurance company

In some cases, several groups or individuals from different programs share rooms. These groups or individuals do not know each other, do not have daily contact with each other and are not jointly and severally liable with each other, so therefore these groups or individuals must pay the full deposit.

If one group or individual does not hand over the personal keys, the deposit will not be refunded, but instead goes to a new cylinder and key for the groups or individuals who use the room and thus does not burden the other users financially.
